ImageFIRST Announces Their Laundering Is Effective Against COVID-19
KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. – June 3, 2020 – ImageFIRST, the largest national healthcare linen and laundry service provider specializing in the healthcare market, announced today that their wash is effective against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
ImageFIRST provides healthcare providers with full-service linen and staff apparel rental and laundry programs complete with infection prevention practices set above regulatory standards. As a part of these programs, the company uses a laundering process they developed years ago specifically to meet the stringent needs of the healthcare industry called Triple BioShield Protection®. The three-step process consists of a wash formula that kills 99.999% of common pathogens, a bacteriostatic softener, and linen encased in plastic for maximum in-transit safety.
The wash formula agent used in ImageFIRST’s Triple BioShield Protection process is Ecolab®’s AdvaCare™ Disinfectant, which was just announced as the first laundry disinfectant and oxidizer to receive the U.S. Environment Protection Agency’s (EPA) Emerging Viral Pathogen claim as effective against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes coronavirus disease or COVID-19.
Once linen and medical apparel have gone through this disinfecting wash at ImageFIRST’s plants, they are then treated with Ecolab’s EPA-registered bacteriostatic softener, which adds a layer of protection to the linen to stop bacteria from growing. Clean, dry laundry is then wrapped in plastic to protect it during the transportation and distribution process all the way until it is used.
